OUR PROJECT

OUR PROJECT

The project "Living happily in my European house" is a Comenius project involving three schools:

MANOR PRIMARY SCHOOL,

from United Kingdom (coordinator
school),

ZESPÓŁ SZKÓŁ W STANINIE PUBLICZNE GIMNAZJUM,

from Poland

and IES El PALMERAL,

from Spain.

This project is based on the quote by the English writer Rumer Godden, which says:
"Everyone is a house of four rooms: a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual room. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete".

The project’s topic is chosen for our students pupils aiming at helping them deal with the modern problems of the busy stressful life and the growing need for self confidence (big cities and small isolated places). They will be helped to understand how all these four aspects are important in our daily life.

The second vital dimension of the project is to enhance European friendship, to enlarge pupils’ vision of Europe and provide greater cultural awareness. The sharing of culture and tradition will be integrated into the four kinds of activities that will be carried out in this project: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Here are some examples of them:

Physical activities: learning partner school's national sports and traditional games, learning our own and partner's traditional dances, etc.

Mental activities: learning about partner's national riddles, twisters, enhancing their curiosity about learning new things, and new words from different languages.

Emotional: listening to music, singing songs, learning partner's traditional music.

Spiritual: learning partner's traditional idioms, tales, some traditional rhymes.

This project will help our students join together in Europe with enjoyable activities related to these four “rooms”.
