DIARY OF OUR VISIT TO POLAND (BY STUDENTS FROM VERA)

MONDAY 17th OCTOBER

The first day we had a long and tiring trip. It took us 6 hours to go to Madrid by bus and then four hours more to go to Warsaw. The first night we slept in a hotel there and we ate a typical soup of Poland. After that we went to ''sleep'', all together in one bedroom.

TUESDAY 18th OCTOBER

The next morning we met the Polish and British students and teachers and then we visited some monuments of the city.

We went on a guided tour of the Royal Palace in Warsaw.

When we arrived in Stanin, we went to our host houses. That night we hung out with the Polish students, the hosts and more people. But Elvira and Maha were staying too far away to go with them, so they played table tennis with their host sisters.

WEDNESDAY 19th

In the morning we all went to school with our Polish friends, who gave us a very warm welcome, with music and dancing.

After attending some lessons, we ate something and we went to the gym. In the gym we did the presentations about our country and our high school. The headmaster of Stanin Secondary School and the mayor were there with the Polish, English and Spanish delegations. Then we played a lot of intellectual and cultural games with the English and Polish students. Some of the Polish students danced the traditional Polish dance called “ Polonés”. Also one student danced flamenco very well and another student danced in a “bullfighting” style.

In the evening we went to the disco at the school and we had a great night.

THURSDAY 20th

In the morning we went to the school with our hosts and we learned something in their lessons, we stayed for a little bit on the computers of the school library and we played basketball in P.E. with the Polish students. We ate something at school and after that we said goodbye to a lot of new friends that we had made during the days we stayed in Stanin (a beautiful but cold place)

We had to travel for about 6 hours in a bus singing songs (Spanish songs and also some Polish ones) and the people that were tired slept a little.

We finally got to Krakow. The hotel was very cool and we had a small party in Elvira's room, but we went to sleep at about 11 pm because we were very tired after travelling.

FRIDAY 21st
We woke up very early because we had to take a bus to visit the city of Krakow. We went to an enormous cathedral that is the most important religious building in Poland, we also went to a museum and went shopping in our free time. We bought presents for our families and friends.

In the evening we went to visit some salt caves that were more than 120 metres below the ground, we walked a lot and we went down a lot of stairs.

Our teachers bought some souvenirs in the caves shop and after that we walked to the bus to go back to the hotel.

SATURDAY 2nd

Our last day in Poland. We got up at 6 o'clock to take a taxi to get to the airport at 7:40 a.m.

In the airport they told us that we couldn't take the plane because of the adverse weather conditions. We had to take a plane from Krakow to Frankfurt at 16:15 and then another one from Frankfurt to Madrid.
We finally arrived in Vera at 7:15 a.m.
We were really tired after spending the night on the bus, but we were really happy because we had had a great week in Poland, a week that we will never forget.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO EVERYBODY WHO MADE IT POSSIBLE, BOTH TEACHERS AND STUDENTS.
